Oh that’s cool! I know quite a few people who got character performer, it is one of the harder roles to get but definitely not impossible! So if you want it give it a try for sure :) Also know lots of lifeguards (one of my roommates is one) and it’s a pretty stressful position - a lot less sitting around by a pool than you think apparently! Which makes sense, because as a lifeguard you do have a lot of responsibility :) I think you should be fine for Jan intake as long as millions of people haven’t already applied and been accepted. I got in in October last year for the 2012 August intake, which was pretty early. When I applied then, though, they did say that there wasn’t much chance of getting into the Jan intake at that point. 

I didn’t need to know anything about my country. This might be different if you’re a Cultural Representative? For regular ICPs and CPs I’ve never heard of that, though! The interview was pretty short, maybe like 10-15 minutes. My interviewer was sick, though, so that could’ve been part of it :P

Hi!! Thank you, and don’t be too nervous! The interview really isn’t that bad. I got asked questions like whether I’d lived away from home before, whether I had experience around the role I wanted (which was merchandise, and I have retail experience so yes), whether I had tattoos/piercings… nothing too bad, really! Some people I’ve talked to said they got asked completely different things but for me it felt very easy. Just make sure you’re in Disney Look for the interview if at all possible, smile lots, be friendly, and have a question or two prepared for the end when they ask if you have any questions. Even if you don’t really, it’s always good to look interested and willing to learn :) When you apply for your role you have a sheet with checkboxes and you check next to any and all you are willing to do. I only actually checked a few but still got what I preferred so that was good! It may have been because I applied early though, so if you’re applying late then I’d recommend being open to as many positions as possible. Good luck, I’m sure you’ll be FINE! :D

My new home! For the next year :) It’s so lovely, and it’s so sunny here. We start orientation this afternoon and I am so excited!

I’m in Orlando!!

I arrived in Orlando early yesterday morning, checked in, and now I’m in my apartment at Patterson Court! It’s all very surreal but also very exciting. Yesterday we went to Walmart for supplies, it was very busy cause everybody who checked in yesterday had the same idea I think. Also the buses took a hundred years to arrive and then they were always full. Siigh. But after having a night’s sleep everything feels a lot easier to handle, and after getting our internet sorted this morning I already feel a smige less homesick. 

My apartment has three bedrooms (so six beds) but so far only four of us live here. So we’ve got an empty bedroom, and unsure if or when anyone else will move in. 

Tomorrow we start orientation, which I am excited for! I’m even more excited to start work, I actually can’t wait. A month of unemployment made me so bored. And I want to have a schedule, and things to do, and just a bit of a routine to make everything more familiar and comfortable.

It feels unreal! I don’t know what to say! This week has been super busy with packing up my room and saying goodbye to everyone. I’m stressing a little bit that I’m not 100% ready (like, my suitcase is half packed and I’m terrified it will be overweight and I have to finish cleaning my room and fghvbjkjnk why) but hopefully I can get shit done tomorrow morning, since my flight isn’t until 9:30pm. So I’m hoping to leave Rotorua by 3 at the latest. And wake up early to do stuff - if I ever go to sleep. There’s too much to think about to sleep!! 

I’m only getting the tiniest bit scared now. And still, it’s just about the packing/hurrying/time thing, I still feel okay about the actual going and being there even though it’s crazy! 

Anyway, I just felt this warranted an update. Hopefully when I’m there I will have more interesting things to post about, and will be able to make time to do so. Excite!!!

American money!! Thanks Mum! It’s so strange, it just looks like play money. I can’t take it seriously lol. 4 sleeps to go! Wow!

Deleted my last post after a helpful anon informed me that people can get in trouble for certain things mentioned in it! I was worried that might be the case but I guess not everyone knows that, since it’s happening anyway. Nice as it is to have some early info I wouldn’t want to risk mine or anyone else’s jobs for it!
